Then a voice came from the throne, saying: "Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both small and great!"
Then
I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing
waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: "Hallelujah! For our
Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!
For
the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.
Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear." (Fine linen
stands for the righteous acts of the saints.)
Then the angel said to me, "Write: 'Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!'" And he added, "These are the true words of God." Revelation 19:5-9
Those of us who are born again, have a wedding feast to look forward to! The wedding of the Lamb! As a matter of fact it is OUR(the Church) wedding with the Lamb!! We don't want to miss out on our wedding; do we?
In
fact it is an open invitation to all. Though it says 'blessed are those
that are invited', what it really means here is 'blessed are those who
have accepted the invitation'.
Are we ready? The invitation is still open - but only for little while. Let's accept it, get ready for it and pass it on...

The disciples had forgotten to bring bread, except for
one loaf they had with them in the boat. “Be careful,” Jesus warned
them. “Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod.”
They discussed this with one another and said, “It is because we have no bread.”
Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: “Why are you talking about
having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts
hardened? Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear?
And don’t you remember? When I broke the five loaves for the five
thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?”
“Twelve,” they replied.
“And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?”
They answered, “Seven.”
He said to them, “Do you still not understand?”
Jesus's
miracle of feeding the crowd of five thousand adults with five loaves
of bread precedes today's Scripture. The fact that this conversation
above is also mentioned in the same chapter explains how soon the
disciples had forgotten the miracle and started to worry about "how to
feed the crowd".
Aren't we like them too? We forget how
God delivered us through certain incidents in the past and keep
worrying about the future far and near. Why is it hard for us to trust
that the Lord will see us through all the way? Why do we still depend on
our abilities and merits and resources?
Why are we
talking about having no bread? Do we still not see or understand? Are
our hearts hardened? Do we have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail
to hear? And don’t we remember?
Why o why?
I
know it is a lot of questions to handle in one day... but let's take
some time to analyze ourselves. Let us learn to look up to our
Source(Jesus) which never dries out; instead of forever worrying about
our low resources...
It is high time we fully trust beyond what is seen, don't you think?
Have a blessed Tuesday!

First of all, what is refuge?
Looking it up in the dictionary we get the definition: "a condition of being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger, or trouble."
So
taking refuge in the Lord means finding safety or shelter from pursuit,
danger, or trouble - in the Lord. Meaning, anytime we are afraid,
troubled, pursued we will run to His presence.
King David could relate to being in danger, he was being pursued; he was troubled all the time. Yet he sings constantly,
* "But the LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge." Psalm 94:22
* The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Psalm 9:9
* The
LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in
whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my
stronghold. Psalm 18:2
* I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." Psalm 91:2
* I have become a sign to many; you are my strong refuge. Psalm 71:7
Just the fact that he keeps on repeating the
same idea proves that he was very much in the habit of doing it - taking
refuge in the Lord.
How do we fare? When the enemy strikes, how do
we react? Do we at least know these Scriptures to give us comfort? Do we
fight it ourselves or run to God who is our refuge?
May the LORD repay you for what you have done. May you be richly
rewarded by the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come
to take refuge." Ruth 2:12

Ship your grain across the sea;
after many days you may receive a return.
Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight;
you do not know what disaster may come upon the land.
Whoever watches the wind will not plant;
whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.
Sow your seed in the morning,
and at evening let your hands not be idle,
for you do not know which will succeed,
whether this or that,
or whether both will do equally well.
~ Ecclesiastes 11:1 ~ 6
Praise the Lord! Happy Saturday morning!
Today's
Scripture comes as an answer to all those at the cross roads thinking
if it is okay to start a new venture. Yes! It is absolutely okay! For
the Word of God says so. Go ahead! Just remember to give Him praise at
all times.
God bless you! Enjoy the weekend.

“To the angel of the church in Sardis write: These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars.
I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.
Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of my God.
Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent.
But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you. Revelation 3:1-3
Sure a wake up call for some of us; what are we going to do about it?

How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and day after day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?
Look on me and answer, Lord my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death,
and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,”
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.
But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing the Lord’s praise,
for he has been good to me.
~ Psalm 13
A perfect example of how King David was like every one of us. Again, a perfect example of how King David was unlike most of us.
He was like us with his despair; yet he was unlike us in his ability to rejoice in his despair.
He starts this psalm in agony but ends it with such joy.
His questions seem like he is doubting God; but the answers come right back with such assurance of his salvation.
He
was hurting, on the verge of giving up, yet not quite. He had mastered
the art of quieting his soul time and time again when situations called
for an uproar.
King David is indeed a great example to learn many things from.
Let
us pray for such a heart - a heart like King David's. A heart that
trusts in God's unfailing love, even though the human nature of despair
overtakes us. A heart that praises more and complains less. A heart that
always seeks the Lord. A heart that is forever connected and in tune
with the Maker. A heart that claims to be a friend of God. Precious.
God bless you folks! It is Thursday already! Just one more day until the weekend! Yay!!

With what shall I come before the Lord
and bow down before the exalted God?
Shall I come before him with burnt offerings,
with calves a year old?
Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams,
with ten thousand rivers of oil?
Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression,
the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:6-8
We at times forget what is ultimately required of us by the Lord. Is it how much we give? No! Is it our being regular to church? No! How about we fast and pray for three days? That will be good idea but not something required of us by the Lord. Well, then what is really expected of us?
Today's passage has the answer:
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God!
Happy Sunday all! And happy Father's Day too!

* So he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty. Zachariah 4:6
* All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give all of you into our hands." I Samuel 17:47
* Yet I will show love to the house of Judah; and I will save them--not by bow, sword or battle, or by horses and horsemen, but by the LORD their God." Hosea 1:7
Sometimes
we tend to depend on our might or power, our skills or education, our
strength or confidence. We actually think a little too much of our self
as if we can take care of our situations.
Then
there are times we trust fellow men, "if only he put in a word for
me...", "she will understand my situation","mom will take care of the
matter", "dad will loan me the money", etc. once again leaning on other
support systems for our needs.
We tend to forget that
our battle can not be won with our merits. We try hard with all our
might and influences and only when all else fail we succumb to the
Lord.
The Scripture clearly tells us, it is not who
you know or who knows you, that matters, it will be
given/done/healed/received/bought/paid for/taken care of, because He
says so! Praise the Lord! Amen!
It is therefore very
important to learn the word of God on a regular basis so that we know
the solution as soon as we smell the problem. We will right away come
to the Lord crying, "Not by my might Lord, not by my power too, only
by you this can be done Lord; My horses won't save, nor my
horsemen, please take charge of the situation Lord and bring victory to
your name ..."
You will all agree this is a time saver with guaranteed results. Why not try it then!?

* The
race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food
come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but
time and chance happen to them all. Ecclesiastes 9:11
Do we need anymore assurance than what we have in these Scriptures that our victory belongs to the Lord?
Our might or power can not compare to the Spirit of the Lord. No sword or spear can save us as much as our Lord.
There
is no guarantee that the swift will win a race or the strong the
battle. Can't take it for granted that the "wise"will be fed or the
"brilliant" will be wealthy or the educated will be "favored".
To
sum up, nothing in us is worth anything when it comes to providing for
our needs. It is all by His grace we survive. It is a little too hard to
accept; as we mostly believe we make our living. But that is not
true. There are so many things beyond our control that need to work
together for us to live our life. No amount of money can ever buy love,
joy or good health.
It is all His grace and only GRACE!
But by the grace of God I am what I am. 1 Cor. 15:10

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. Psalm 20:7
King David was a great king with thousands of chariots and horses. In I Chronicles 18:4 we read: "David
captured a thousand of his chariots, seven thousand charioteers and
twenty thousand foot soldiers. He hamstrung all but a hundred of the
chariot horses."
We read in 2 Chronicles 9:25 about the great wealth his son King Solomon had: "Now
Solomon had 4,000 stalls for horses and chariots and 12,000 horsemen,
and he stationed them in the chariot cities and with the king in
Jerusalem." I am sure a great deal of this wealth was passed on to him from his father along with the kingdom.
In
spite of all that King David was very clear on where to set his heart.
He was not counting on the number of his chariots nor his horses but his
trust was in the Lord.
He took no pride in his
possession nor his abilities but in the name of the Lord alone he
trusted. He had complete assurance that it is the Lord who gives him
victory not his armies of chariots and horsemen.
He had also taught the same to his son Solomon who writes in Proverbs 21:31, "The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD".
How about us? Where do we put our trust? What do we teach our children?

Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching
forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for
the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians
3:13-14
"One running to secure the prize would not
stop to look behind him to see how much ground he had run over, or who
of his competitors had fallen or lingered in the way. He would keep his
eye steadily on the prize, and strain every nerve that he might obtain
it. If his attention was diverted for a moment from that, it would
hinder his flight, and might be the means of his losing the crown",
explains Barne's Notes on the Bible.
Apostle Paul says
it was so with him. He looked onward to the prize - Jesus Christ. He
fixed the eye intently on that. It was the single object in his view,
and he did not allow his mind to be diverted from that by anything -
not even by the contemplation of the past.
He did not
stop to think of the difficulties which he had overcome, or the troubles
which he had met, but he thought of what was yet to be accomplished."
It
is easy to lose track of our goal with the overwhelming demands of the
day to day life. It takes extra efforts on our part to refocus on the
goal and continue the race. So...
Ready, set, go!
Go! Go!

Be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you. 1 Samuel 12:24
Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole [duty] of man. Ecclesiastes 12:13
And now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good? Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. I Corinthians 16:13
Be strong! It is not our physical strength we are talking here, but more importantly our spiritual strength.
We
have a general idea of how to get strong physically; eat right and
exercise. Same way for spiritual strength too we need to 'eat right' and
'excercise'.
Eat right what? Of course the Word of
God! Word of God is referred to as bread, honey, and milk throughout the
Bible; let us look at a few:
* "Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good." I Peter 2:2-3
* "... I am the living bread that
came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live
forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the
world." John 6:48
* How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Psalm 119:103
Just like how we need to eat everyday for a healthy physical body, we need to consume the Word of God everyday for a strong spiritual self.
Can't
just stop at that, we need to also exercise it to stay healthy! How do
we exercise the Word of God? Of course by practicing it! By doing what
it says, by removing what it says, by accepting what it says, by
believing what is says, by proclaiming our faith, by living our life as
one pleasing to God!
With that our 'Call of Duty' series ends. Now that we have heard the call loud and clear, let us go perform our duty!
Pin It Now!
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. I Corinthians 16:13
This is a continuation of the call of duty we started discussing yesterday. Today we will discuss about standing firm in faith.
What does it mean to stand firm in faith?
Apostle Paul writes in his letter to the Thessalonians, "So
then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to
you, whether by word of mouth or by letter." 2 Thessalonians 2:15
So,
standing firm in faith means to hold on to the teachings that are
passed on to us in the Scriptures. A word of caution here... let us be
careful not to get carried away by "teachings" that are not in
accordance with the Word of God.
Galatians 5:1 says, "Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."
So,
standing firm in faith means not letting ourselves be burdened again by
a yoke of slavery or sin. Once we were slaves, but now we are set FREE
by His blood! Any habit or practice that could tempt us back into
slavery is to be avoided at all cost.
It is not by our might we stand, but by the grace of God. Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 1:21-22, "Now
it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed
us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as
a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come."
Finally remember, only if we stand firm to the end we will be saved (Matthew 24:13)!

* You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the LORD your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed. Joel 2:26
* Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood Isaiah 54:4
Dignity is an important motivation. When we think our dignity is lost or when we fear disgrace we lose all hope in life. However if our pride is in our Lord, we will not be put to shame.
It may seem like disgrace temporarily but in the long run we can look back and see that it was not really a disgrace and that His grace was sufficient for us. Amen!
Happy June folks!
