But Joshua had commanded the army, "Do not give a war cry, do not raise your voices, do not say a word until the day I tell you to shout. Then shout!" Joshua 6:10

We all know the Old Testament incident of how Joshua and his troop sieged the walls of Jericho. Interestingly this has a related scripture in the New Testament:

And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. Luke 24:49

We all know how this turned out as well - how the apostles shone forth for God's glory being filled with the Holy Spirit, tarrying at His feet.

What is our take from these incidents? Another scripture has the answer:

Be still, and know that I am God; Psalm 46:10

Let us do just that. Yours is the victory!

Blessed is the one

who does not walk in step with the wicked

or stand in the way that sinners take

or sit in the company of mockers,

but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,

and who meditates on his law day and night.

That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,

which yields its fruit in season

and whose leaf does not wither—

whatever they do prospers.

Not so the wicked!

They are like chaff

that the wind blows away.

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,

nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,

but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

 My son, if you accept my words

and store up my commands within you,

turning your ear to wisdom

and applying your heart to understanding—

indeed, if you call out for insight

and cry aloud for understanding,

and if you look for it as for silver

and search for it as for hidden treasure,

then you will understand the fear of the Lord

and find the knowledge of God.

For the Lord gives wisdom;

from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

He holds success in store for the upright,

he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,

for he guards the course of the just

and protects the way of his faithful ones.

Don't know if you can see the point Matthew tries to stress in his words again and again. It is that Jesus went about healing every disease, underlie the word 'every'.

I know we all live in stressful times. now No disease is beyond our Healer Jesus Christ. Amen! Be it COVID or cancer or any of those terrible ailments out there, nothing is impossible for our Lord to heal, Amen! He is mighty to save.

 A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.

Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.

Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?”

Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:7-14

Not only is Jesus our Living Bread. He is also our Living Water? We can drink of Him to quench all our thirsts. What do you thirst for this morning? Let us draw near to Jesus and drink up from His resources. When we do that, as today's scripture assures we will also become springs of this Living Water. Amen!

 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. John 6:51

I know yesterday we meditated on the same lines. And today again we are reminded of similar scriptures - that Jesus is our living bread that came down from heaven. If we eat of Him we will live forever. This bread - His life - is offered to the whole world.

Let us take a few minutes to accept Jesus in our hearts once again this morning. Let us give Him thanks for being the living bread He is - that makes us live forever too.

Let's offer this quick prayer: Thank you Jesus for giving us yourself so we can live. Amen!

In case you do not know Jesus as your personal savior but would like to, just believe Jesus came down as a living bread for you too! even if you don' t understand it all at once, accepting Jesus in your heart is the very first thing to do. And He will teach you the rest.

I invite you to say this simple prayer: Thank you Jesus for giving me yourself so I can live. Amen!

Welcome aboard my brother! You are home!

I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread. Job:23:12

As soon as we hear the words 'daily bread' we quickly think of food - food to our body. But the same words are true for the nourishment of our souls as well.

Are we feeding our - inner beings just as we care for our outer being - the body? Do we enjoy daily meditation of God's words? A daily dose of His wisdom? The daily instructions for our Christian walk?

When was the last time you enjoyed a truly great "feast" of scriptural nourishment? What prevents you from indulging in the delight of His words? How about you set aside some time this weekend to do just that?

 Have mercy on me, O God,

according to Your loving devotion;

according to Your great compassion,

blot out my transgressions.

Wash me clean of my iniquity

and cleanse me from my sin.

For I know my transgressions,

and my sin is always before me.

Against You, You only, have I sinned

and done what is evil in Your sight,

so that You may be proved right when You speak

and blameless when You judge.

Surely I was brought forth in iniquity;

I was sinful when my mother conceived me.

Surely You desire truth in the inmost being;

You teach me wisdom in the inmost place.

Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean;

wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

Let me hear joy and gladness;

let the bones You have crushed rejoice.

Hide Your face from my sins

and blot out all my iniquities.

Hear now, O Israel, the statutes and ordinances I am teaching you to follow, so that you may live and may enter and take possession of the land that the LORD, the God of your fathers, is giving you. You must not add to or subtract from what I command you, so that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God that I am giving you.

See, I have taught you statutes and ordinances just as the LORD my God has commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land that you are about to enter and possess. Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding in the sight of the peoples, who will hear of all these statutes and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.”

For what nation is great enough to have a god as near to them as the LORD our God is to us whenever we call on Him? And what nation is great enough to have righteous statutes and ordinances like this entire law I set before you today?

Only be on your guard and diligently watch yourselves, so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen, and so that they do not slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and grandchildren. The day you stood before the LORD your God at Horeb,a the LORD said to me, “Gather the people before Me to hear My words, so that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach them to their children.”

You came near and stood at the base of the mountain, a mountain blazing with fire to the heavens, with black clouds and deep darkness. And the LORD spoke to you out of the fire. You heard the sound of the words, but saw no form; there was only a voice. He declared to you His covenant, which He commanded you to follow—the Ten Commandments that He wrote on two tablets of stone.

At that time the LORD commanded me to teach you the statutes and ordinances you are to follow in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess.

Deuteronomy 4:1~14

The verbs here are bold-ed just so you would pay more attention to them, which is for us to follow as well. Shall we?

5“Come, eat my bread

13The woman named Folly is loud;

16“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!”
