Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy. Psalms 126:5
Psalm 126 is a song of an exile returning to his home country. We don't see any specifics on the author of this psalm but just from the omission of it we can conclude it was written by King David. It was in fact a prophetic song imagining the return of an exile. Exile who? Of course, the Israelites and also us - yes, you and me!!
We too are exiles aren't we? We were in bondage of sin and our Savior Jesus Christ paid off the price for our sins and redeemed us from our bondage. We are returning home! Is our mouth filled with laughter and our hearts with cheer? Are we singing and dancing and praising the Lord in our onward bound journey? Or are we oblivious to His grace and just treading along aimlessly, looking back often to our bonded ways?
The journey could be a toil at times with the "sowing" of our faith; but just as the Scripture promises us, we will return with sheaves of yield, winning many souls for Christ! What a great gift that would be to take with us to our Father God who is waiting eagerly to receive us! Amen!
