"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing." Matthew 23:37
Yesterday we saw King David's prayer that cried out "... hide me in the shadow of your wings".
Today's Scripture is the flip side to that, where Jesus is crying out to Jerusalem wanting to hide her under His wings but she is not willing!
Let us take a moment to see if we are willing - willing to be hidden under the wings of the Lord. It is one thing to pray for protection and another thing to abide in His protection.
Even in the Lord's prayer, we say "... lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil". 'Deliver us from evil' is the prayer portion of it; not getting into temptation is the abiding part of the equation.
Let us therefore pray and abide!
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1
