"Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?” Genesis 3:11
We all know how Adam and Eve both disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit. We are not going to discuss Adam & Eve here but see how we can apply the situation to our self.
Are we eating any forbidden fruits? How do we react to temptations, false preaching and the lures of the world? Are we bold enough to stand up in our faith or so weak that we are stumbling at every small obstacle? Or worse yet, are we taking the grace of our Lord for granted thinking we can sin once and later ask for forgiveness?! This is how some of us have diluted His shed blood for us, taking it too light.
In the Lord's prayer we pray, "Lead us not into temptations..." Let us make this our daily prayer and stay away from temptations, false preaching and the lures of this world. Let us NOT eat from the "tree" our Lord has commanded us not to eat from.
If you have some time today, please read Matthew 5:21-48 where Jesus explains the commandments in His terms to understand what some of these "forbidden fruits" are.
Let us say no to forbidden fruits in our lives.
