You have put gladness in my heart, More than in the season that their grain and wine increased. Psalm 4:7
In the same chapter in verse 4 he writes: Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more. Psalm 16:4
You might wonder how it was possible for King David to be so filled with joy amidst the chaos. In Psalm 16, he gives us an insight into how he managed to be happy.
Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup;
you make my lot secure.
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
surely I have a delightful inheritance.
I will praise the Lord, who counsels me;
even at night my heart instructs me.
I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will rest secure,
because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
nor will you let your faithful b one see decay.
You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
~ Psalm 16:5-11
In the same chapter in verse 4 he writes: Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more. Psalm 16:4
So if we need joy in our life, let us run after other gods; but follow the footsteps of King David keeping our eyes on the Lord.
Praise the Lord. Have a blessed week!
