Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:17
Last but not the least, armor of God includes the Sword of Spirit which is nothing but the Word of God.
Reading the Word of God on a daily basis is vital for our survival during our spiritual warfare. The spoken Word of God is rare these days however the Scripture is God's own Words written by the Holy Spirit through different authors.
Paul writes in Hebrews, For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
The more we read the Word of God and get familiar with the Promises of God the often we will be reminded of these during our day to day struggle with flesh and the world. If we don't know the Word however our communion with God is one-sided and incomplete as we don't "hear" His voice.
Word of God directs us. King David writes: Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Psalm 119:105
Word of God nourishes us. Jesus said: Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4
Are we fastened with the Word of God today? If you haven't please take a moment to read a portion from the Bible during the day.
Happy July every one. Thank you for your company over Coffee with Jesus.
