What we must do to receive the Holy Spirit?
* Jesus told us to wait
On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized witha water, but in a few days you will be baptized withb the Holy Spirit.” Acts 1:4-5
Waiting is not passive or inactive; it is preparation.
* Jesus told us what it was for.
"You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Acts 1:7-8
We will be witness of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Speaking in tongue is the initial physical evidence of the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Some ask is it possible to not speak in tongues yet being filled with the Holy Spirit. The best answer is "May be". Because with out tongues there is no physical evidence.
But then, speaking in tongues should not be the only evidence... So, what are the other evidences of Holy Spirit? We will save that for tomorrow.
Have a blessed Thursday!
