If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5

There is no shame in admitting that we lack wisdom, especially to God. After all the wisest king ever lived - King Solomon - even he asked God for wisdom.

Therefore give Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people and to discern between good and evil. For who is able to govern this great people of Yours?" 1 Kings 3:9

My favorite King David too acknowledged the wisdom he received from God Almighty:

Surely You desire truth in the inmost being; You teach me wisdom in the inmost place. Psalm 51:6

Prophet Daniel too confirms wisdom comes from the Lord:

He changes the times and seasons; He removes kings and establishes them. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning. Daniel 2:21

Matthew affirms that if we ask, it will be given:

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7

Now is there any reason not to ask for wisdom for ourselves?

As for God, his way is perfect:

The Lord’s word is flawless;

he shields all who take refuge in him.

For who is God besides the Lord?

And who is the Rock except our God?

It is God who arms me with strength

and keeps my way secure.

He makes my feet like the feet of a deer;

he causes me to stand on the heights.

He trains my hands for battle;

my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

You make your saving help my shield;

your help has made me great.

You provide a broad path for my feet,

so that my ankles do not give way.

Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. James 5:13-18

“If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you.” Exodus 15:26

Help us Lord to listen carefully to you our God and to do what is right in your eyes. Help us Lord to pay attention to your commands and keep all your decrees. Then you will not bring on us any of the diseases you bought on the Egyptians. You are the Lord, my healer.

Amen!

 Clap your hands, all you nations;

shout to God with cries of joy.

For the Lord Most High is awesome,

the great King over all the earth.

He subdued nations under us,

peoples under our feet.

He chose our inheritance for us,

the pride of Jacob, whom he loved.

God has ascended amid shouts of joy,

the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets.

Sing praises to God, sing praises;

sing praises to our King, sing praises.

For God is the King of all the earth;

sing to him a psalm of praise.

God reigns over the nations;

God is seated on his holy throne.

The nobles of the nations assemble

as the people of the God of Abraham,

for the kings of the earth belong to God;

he is greatly exalted.

Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord:
“I will sing to the Lord,
for he is highly exalted.
Both horse and driver
he has hurled into the sea.

Exodus 15:1

We are all familiar with the songs written and sung by King David. Today's scripture verse is the lyrics for one of Moses's songs. If you have time please take the time to read the full chapter which completes his exaltation to the Lord, immediately following the miracle of the red sea parting. He is giving honor and praise to God Almighty who was the wonder worker behind this victory over the Egyptian army.

Let's pause there for today's discussion. Each one of us believers have experienced countless miracles in our lives. Have we given praise to the Lord God Almighty for our deliverance, providence, protection, whatever was the miracle by exalting His Name in songs of praise?

If not why not? Here's a beautiful song that can help you get started...

 The LORD is my shepherd;

I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures;

He leads me beside quiet waters.

He restores my soul;

He guides me in the paths of righteousness

for the sake of His name.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil,

for You are with me;

Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me

in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil;

my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy will follow me

all the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of the LORD

forever.

~Psalm 23

A calming psalm today for the troubled among us... Let us take comfort in the Lord. <3

Why have we fasted,’ they say,
‘and you have not seen it?
Why have we humbled ourselves,
and you have not noticed?’

“Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please
and exploit all your workers.
Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife,
and in striking each other with wicked fists.

You cannot fast as you do today
and expect your voice to be heard on high.

Is this the kind of fast I have chosen,
only a day for people to humble themselves?

Is it only for bowing one’s head like a reed
and for lying in sackcloth and ashes?

Is that what you call a fast,
a day acceptable to the Lord?

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?

Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe them,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?

Isaiah 58:3-7

Now that we know what we are doing wrong with our fasts shall we work to correct ourselves? Let's re-start our fasts from today, in allignment with the Word of God.

They said to him, “John’s disciples often fast and pray, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours go on eating and drinking.”

Jesus answered, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; in those days they will fast.”

Luke 5:33,34

How is your fasting going everyone? Today is technically day 4 on our 21 days of fasting. If you haven't started it yet that's fine. There is a time for it.

Jesus was once questioned about fasting and this was his response: Jesus answered, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; in those days they will fast.” Luke 5:34

What we can gather from this is that there is a time for fasting and there is a time for feasting.

When we go in God's presence with prayer and fasting, I would like to keep a specific list of prayer points to pray for so it keeps me focused and encourages me to stay committed to it.

Try it some time. You will be blessed.

God bless you all!

When you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

Matthew 6:16-18

Thank you everyone who wish to join the 21 day fasting and praying suggestion.

First off, how to fast? Today's scripture has the answer as to what to do and what not to do.

To do: Humble yourself in God's sight

What NOT to do: Showing off to people that you are fasting - or a false show of humiliation.

As to what to pray for, let us start with a confession of our sins.

Daniel sets a great example in the scriptures below if you need a reference point:

So I turned my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and petition, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes.

And I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed, “O, Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant of loving devotion to those who love Him and keep His commandments, we have sinned and done wrong. We have acted wickedly and rebelled. We have turned away from Your commandments and ordinances. We have not listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, leaders, and fathers, and to all the people of the land.

To You, O Lord, belongs righteousness, but this day we are covered with shame—the men of Judah, the people of Jerusalem, and all Israel near and far, in all the countries to which You have driven us because of our unfaithfulness to You. O LORD, we are covered with shame—our kings, our leaders, and our fathers—because we have sinned against You.

To the Lord our God belong compassion and forgiveness, even though we have rebelled against Him and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God to walk in His laws, which He set before us through His servants the prophets....

Daniel 9:3~10

Let us too start there, confessing every one of our sins. Sins in thoughts, actions, words, disobedience, etc. and confess them one by one at His feet.

Tomorrow we will learn what's next...

Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth.

So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?”

And he said, “From childhood. And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”

Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”

When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!” Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, “He is dead.” But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.

And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?”

So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”

Mark 9: 20-29

Is there any such "spirits" we are dealing with in our lives? Say you have tried everything you could think of and see no release? Maybe it is time to take it to Jesus in prayer and fasting.

For the next 21 days I invite you all for a time of prayer and fasting. If you want to skip a meal ow tro and join me in prayer and fasting stay tuned... list out the issues you are dealing with; and you do not have to share it with me or anyone. Let us just bring it to our Father in Jesus's name. Shall we?

He (Jesus) replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you. Luke 17:6

"For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20

"Truly I tell you," Jesus replied, "if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' it will happen. Matthew 21:21

Now, what is the "mountain" in front of you this morning? All it takes is little faith to move it away. Today's scripture are Jesus's own words so it can't be not true.

Let us pray.

Dear Lord Jesus. We come to your presence today Lord. Your word says if we ask in faith we can move mountains Lord. Dear Lord, we ask in faith, to move all the "mountain" like situations in our lives Lord. We know you will help us through Lord. We believe it in our hearts that you are able Lord. Thank you Jesus you are able. Thank you Jesus you will help us in and through this. In Jesus Christ's most precious name, we pray. Amen.

You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, persecutions, sufferings—what kinds of things happened to me in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra, the persecutions I endured. Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them.

In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:10-17

In today's scripture portion Paul is charging or encouraging Timothy to keep going in his ministry. Let us apply the words for our Christian walk today.

We too have seen the way of life, the purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, persecutions, sufferings and what happened to many of God's ministers in our life times. We have seen, experienced or heard testimonies of persecutions of fellow believers. Even today there is great persecution in Afghanistan for the children of God who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

These should not discourage us but instead should charge us to move forward in our walk of faith. All the scriptures we have learnt from our childhood should be applied in practice and help us stay motivated.

Because, all Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. Amen!

Love you all in Christ Jesus. Stay blessed. Thank you for joining for Coffee with Jesus day after day. God bless you all!

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life. You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes; with your right hand you save me. Psalm 138:7

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4

Christian life is not without struggle. There is no promise that there will be no troubles. But it is promised that God will sustain us through the troubles. He will preserve us. He will be with us. He will comfort us.

Shall we say amen?

God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5

Happy September folks!
