I will sing of Your loving devotion and justice;
to You, O LORD, I will sing praises.

I will ponder the way that is blameless—
when will You come to me?
I will walk in my house
with integrity of heart.

I will set no worthless thing
before my eyes.
I hate the work of those who fall away;
it shall not cling to me.

A perverse heart shall depart from me;
I will know nothing of evil.

Whoever slanders his neighbor in secret,
I will put to silence;
the one with haughty eyes and a proud heart,
I will not endure.

My eyes favor the faithful of the land,
that they may dwell with me;
he who walks in the way of integrity
shall minister to me.

No one who practices deceit
shall dwell in my house;
no one who tells lies
shall stand in my presence.

Every morning I will remove all the wicked of the land,
that I may cut off every evildoer from the city of the LORD.

Then Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2And there was a man named Zacchaeus, a chief tax collector, who was very wealthy. He was trying to see who Jesus was, but could not see over the crowd because he was small in stature. So he ran on ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to see Him, since Jesus was about to pass that way.

When Jesus came to that place, He looked up and said, “Zacchaeus, hurry down, for I must stay at your house today.

So Zacchaeus hurried down and welcomed Him joyfully. And all who saw this began to grumble, saying, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinful man!

But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, half of my possessions I give to the poor, and if I have cheated anyone, I will repay it fourfold.

Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man too is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. Luke 19:1-10

How is our life folks? Are we shunning away certain types of people because they are not "our type" OR are we inclusive of them to win them for the Lord?

Apostle Paul was more like Jesus. He writes in his letter to the Corinthian church:

To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.1 Corinthians 9:22

Hopefully we can make a conscious effort too to win some in our sphere of influence for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

All things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

Whatever has God allowed in our lives is for our good. I know it hurts. I understand it is not what we expected. But, God is Supreme. He know what He is doing.

Let us therefore accept it as God's will and be comforted by His love.

Take heart folks! This is not the end of the world.

Here are a scriptures to assure you that God is with you and He has got you covered:

God, who has called you into fellowship with His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful. 1 Corinthians 1:9

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, to proclaim the virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9

If the yoke for oxen is meant, it was a yoke for two: it passed across the shoulders of two animals, and they bore the yoke together, and so the yoke was easier and lighter for each. Jesus is bearing a yoke. His is a yoke for two. He would have us take the vacant place beside Him, and share with Him.

So, what is Jesus's yoke or burden? We all know, but here's the answer from the scriptures:

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. Luke 19:10

So, how can we bear this burden with Jesus Christ?

* By praying for the lost soul
* By loving them
* By living in a Christ-like manner
* By preaching the Gospel of God

And today's scripture assures us that this yoke is not a heavy burden but gentle and easy to bear. As opposed to the feared "added work load" it promises to bring us rest.

Shall we try?

Yesterday we saw that the sign of loving God is to follow His commandments; which makes us wonder what really these commandments are that we ought to follow.

Interestingly the same question was asked to Jesus and His response was simple:

Let's read the scripture passage below. Mark 12: 28-33:

One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
“Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.

Now that we know, shall we abide to the instructions?

 If I speak in the tongues a of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.

If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:1~13

So, based on today's scriptures how many of you can say you really truly love someone?

I don't think any of us can fit in this scale.

However, this is the exact measure of love Jesus has for each one of us. Isn't that something?!

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

There came a man who was sent from God. His name was John. He came as a witness to testify about the Light, so that through him everyone might believe. He himself was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light.

The true Light who gives light to every man was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God— children born not of blood, nor of the desire or will of man, but born of God.

Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest is my beloved among the young men. I delight to sit in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my taste. Song of Solomon 2:3

The point of the metaphor is this.

There are many trees of the forest, and they all have their uses, but when one is hungry, and faint, and thirsty, the forest trees yield no succour, and we must look elsewhere: they yield shelter, but not refreshing nutriment.

If, however, in the midst of the wood one discovers an apple tree, he there finds the refreshment which he needs; his thirst is alleviated, and his hunger removed.

Even so the Church here means to say that there are many things in the world which yield us a kind of satisfaction — many men, many truths, many institutions, many earthly comforts, but there are none which yield us the full solace which the soul requires; none which can give to the heart the spiritual food for which it hungers; Jesus Christ alone supplies the needs of the sons of men.

( C. H. Spurgeon.)

He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.

For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. And I know that His command is everlasting life.

Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

Pay everyone what you owe him: taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.

Be indebted to no one, except to one another in love. For he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. The commandments “Do not commit adultery, “Do not murder, “Do not steal, “Do not covet,” and any other commandments, are summed up in this one decree: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”  Love does no wrong to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

And do this, understanding the occasion. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.

She stretches out her hands to the distaff

She  opens her arms to the poor

and reaches out her hands to the needy.

When it snows, she has no fear for her household,

She makes coverings for her bed;

She watches over the affairs of her household

seven that are detestable to him:

1. haughty eyes,
2. a lying tongue,
3. hands that shed innocent blood,
4. a heart that devises wicked schemes,
5. feet that are quick to rush into evil,
6. a false witness who pours out lies
7. and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.

Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. Galatians 5:16I guess we get the point. Let us learn to be content as today's scriptures remind us.

On the seventeenth day of the seventh month, the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat. And the waters continued to recede until the tenth month, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains became visible. Genesis 8:4,5

Happy first day of the tenth month of this year folks!

I find it interesting that there is a special mention of a similar 'first day of the tenth month' in the Scriptures and thought it would be apt to discuss the same for our Coffee with Jesus this morning.

Just like how God had provided for Noah and his family for the preceding months of heavy rains, our God has provided for us and our families during the uncertainties of the past months! Praise the Lord!

Let us therefore take a few minutes this morning, to thank the Lord for His providence so far and for His continued mercies in the days to come.

A sincere, heart felt prayer of thankfulness is overdue folks! Hope you won't delay any further in thanking our Lord...

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34
