‘Cornelius, God has heard your prayer and remembered your gifts to the poor.' Acts 10:31

When was the last time we gave gifts to the poor? How many times we come across a stranger on the streets who is obviously in need, but we walk away closing our hearts and eyes to him. Why is it that our heart doesn't move on seeing someone just like us, but in utter disaster. What right do we have to boast on our well being if we can't spare some changes to the ones who ask?

Every penny, every act of kindness extended to the poor is recorded and will be remembered by God. He hears our prayers when we are kind to the poor. Isn't that a very good reason to be kind?

Proverbs 28:27 warns, He who gives to the poor will never want, But he who shuts his eyes will have many curses.

Proverbs 22:9 says, The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.

On the rare occasions when we pause to give, how much do we give? Do we look for the smallest coin in our purse or extend our hands generously, at least to cover a single meal?

Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to. Deuteronomy 15:10

Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done. Proverbs 19:17

It is my desire that all of us be blessed today by extending our hands to the poor this very day. Do you mind?  Look around. It won't be too long before you find someone in need. Now, if you wish to share your experience please feel free to write in the comment section below.

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Luke 6:38
