"Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength." Nehemiah 8:10
Grieving makes one weak; rejoicing gives strength.
True, there have been circumstances that made it seem impossible to rejoice at times. But His grace had been sufficient; won't you agree? If not for that we would have succumbed to our grief and weakness. That is all the more reason to rejoice in the Lord!
We are also asked to share our blessings with the less fortunate among us - giving them a reason to rejoice in the Lord. Let us not forget that.
I'll repeat the Scripture again to let it sink in...
"Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength."
Finally,
Let us not be just hearers of the Word; but doers as well. (James 1:22)
For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. Romans 2:13
We made it thru' the week, yea!
