Today's reading: Proverbs 9 Click here to read online (NIV)

Verse of the day: "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding" 9:10

This is my most favorite Bible verse and I am reminded of it every single day. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Fear here also means reverence, regard, respect etc.

What we can understand from this verse is that without the fear of the Lord, there is no starting point for wisdom. When we respect or revere or regard our Lord, He fills us with the godly wisdom which we need on a daily basis for making right decisions in matters big or small...

When we fear the Lord, our life will be set apart from the rest of the crowd; our mind will be focused on godly things; our spirits will be in communion with the Holy Spirit which teaches us the right from the wrong. The 'regard for the Lord' becomes our very nature. Amen!

Fear of God is not to be scared of him but also means respect ,reverence,...very much true. This applies with your parents too I feel .So that's where you call parents as 'god'.Good thoughts Nri
