"Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink" Daniel 1:12

We are all familar with Daniel's training in Babylon, where the king prepares some young men for his service. When the king orders choice meat and wine for the trainees, Daniel and his three friends request for a vegetarian diet as Daniel had resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine. Please click here to read Daniel Chapter 1 to understand the full context.

Barnes' Notes on the Bible has this introduction:
Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days - A period which would indicate the probable result of the entire experiment. If during that period there were no indications of diminished health, beauty, or vigour, it would not be unfair to presume that the experiment in behalf of temperance would be successful, and it would not be improper then to ask that it might be continued longer...
The Scripture tells us in verse 15, At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food.

Now, shall we try the same for the next ten days along with Scriptures on vegetables and fruits? It is going to be fun!

Good question 'Connecting...' I was just planning on skipping anything non-vegetarian. But will have the regular rice, bread and all vegetarian. Makes sense?!
