"This will be the sign for you, O Hezekiah: "This year you will eat what grows by itself, and the second year what springs from that. But in the third year sow and reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit. II Kings 19:29
Reading the Bible today I was stunned to come across the above verse, which God spoke to King Hezekiah through Prophet Isaiah. I believe this is God's message for us this morning.
These days news of job loss, economical meltdowns, natural disasters are not uncommon resulting in widespread feeling of uncertainty. However, for us who believe, God has promised us He will see us through these times. Can we just blindly believe that? Don't we need a sign?
Well enough! Here's the sign the Lord God gives you: "This year you will eat what grows by itself, and the second year what springs from that. But in the third year sow and reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit."
Rest of the year our needs have been taken care of! How can we say that? Just by trusting in the Lord, of course! Next year too it will be automatically provided! How so? Why worry? Somehow someway our means will be met! Now this is getting complicated, you may say. Sure, it does require a blind faith, a total surrender and acknowledgement that the Lord is our provider - without much details of how He will do that.
The third year though we will reap the benefits of our hard labor, our overtime, our pay reductions, etc. How cool is that; can it get any better?
You may ask again how can we apply it to us just like that? I believe so because the word of God says so; don't you?
