Those who honor me I will honor. I Samuel 2:30
Constant mention of God's love somehow gives a wrong idea that we can take Him for granted. We forget where we came from and who God really is. He is the King of kings; the Lord of lords; the Beginning and the End; we were among the dirt, wearing rags, decaying in our souls.
Yet He chose to love us, cleansed us by His blood, made us holy, clothed us with garments of righteousness, wrote His name on us... and now we have forgotten that.
In Malachi 1:6 we read, A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me?” says the Lord Almighty. He goes on to explain we have defiled His alter by offering the blind and lame animals, in other words we have not given Him the best of what we have. We can't deny that can we?
According to Proverbs 3:9 let us honor the LORD with our wealth, with the first fruits of all our crops. The keyword here is 'all' not just 'some' or 'any' or 'one' or 'none' but 'all'. In all areas of our lives (including our finances) let our first priority and our best service be to God and godly affairs.
Those who honor the Lord will be honored by Him. What a privilege that is!
