Once we were... But now we are...

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. I Peter 2:9-10

For easy understanding let us read these verses in a different order as below: (verse 10 first and then verse 9)

Once we were not a people, but now we are the people of God; once we had not received mercy, but now we have received mercy. And now we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that we may declare the praises of him who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Isn't this true in our lives? Are we declaring the praises of Him as we ought to?
